The ecdysteroid kinase-like family is a group of enzymes responsible for the phosphorylation of ecdysteroids, which are insect growth and molting hormones, at the C-22 position, leading to the formation of physiologically inactive ecdysteroid 22-phosphates. Only ecdysteroid 22-kinase from Bombyx mori, has characterised substrates, including 2-deoxyecdysone, ecdysone, and 20-hydroxyecdysone [PMID: 16899460].
